The setting method is as follows.

  1. Open the iPhone or iPad settings app, scroll to “Gmail” and tap
  2. Tap “Default Email App”
  3. Choose Gmail

People who usually use Gmail as their main user will be able to use the Gmail app as a standard app on their iPhones from now on.

At the moment, there are reports that bugs have occurred

In iOS14, Microsoft Outlook can also be set as the default mail app.

However, it has been reported that even if these third-party browsers and email apps are set by default, they will return to their original settings when the iPhone is restarted.
