How to clean install macOS Monterey with a bootable USB



This is how to perform a clean installation of macOS 12 Monterey.
Download CleanMyMac X free edition here:

Step 1: System backup & cleanup

Clear out system junk
Backup your Mac using Time Machine

Step 2: Downloading macOS Monterey

Download the installer via Software Updates.
Get the Beta profile here: https://betaprofiles.com/

Step 3: Create a bootable USB installer

The command line for Terminal (for Monterey Beta):

sudo /Applications/Install macOS 12 Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/Untitled

Step 4: Erase your Mac and boot macOS from USB

Go to Recovery mode
Run Startup Security Utility to change security settings.
Boot from macOS Monterey USB installer
Erase your Mac in Disk Utility
Install macOS Monterey
