iOS 15.1.1 Battery Life / Battery Drain / Battery Performance Test on iPhone 12 & iPhone 13

Hello everyone, and welcome to the iOS 15.1.1 battery performance video on iPhone 12 & 13.

Battery test for the iPhone 12&13 exclusive iOS release iOS 15.1.1

Note that both the iPhone 13 and 12 in this video are BRAND NEW DEVICES. With very
limited use on the channel so far, so they should have the best performing battery
at this stage in its life.

This video was shot 6 days iOS 15.1.1 was installed, so it had some time to settle in. I have seen many comments that it takes about a week for battery performance to optimize itself after an iOS update. I have always been skeptical of this statement as I have never personally had bad battery life right after I update. If I restore and download backup from iCloud well then that is another story. So I decided to run the battery test 6 days after I updated them. In those 6 days they were just idling with power connected. So let’s run the battery test again, and see if we will get some different results this time around.

Before the test was run the devices were set to 25% display brightness, auto brightness has been disabled, all devices use same settings, and are connected to the same access point.

How Geekbench works :

Geekbench 4 battery scores measure the battery life of a device when running processor-intensive applications. It provides a consistent workload to the device, and generates a Geekbench score by evaluating the amount of work that it is able to do while the battery is discharging and the amount of time it takes for the battery to discharge.

The battery benchmark can be run in Full Discharge mode, from 100% to 0% battery level, to provide a high level of confidence in a device’s battery performance. The battery benchmark can also be run in Partial Discharge mode, for 3 hours. If the battery benchmark is stopped after 10 minutes, by the user or by the battery reaching 0%, then the result will be saved and can be uploaded. Battery benchmark scores gathered by any method except the Full Discharge mode provide a medium level of confidence in a device’s battery performance, and longer tests are more reliable.

When comparing scores, remember that higher scores are better, and double the score indicates double the performance.
