Apple's INSANE M1 Ultra Mac Studio IS the iMac Pro you were waiting for.

But where’s me MacBook?

Everyone’s been sad that the higher performance iMac hadn’t arrived, but its here. It just doesn’t look like you expected.

I’ve been bombarded with questions asking if the iMac Pro is dead. Yes. It’s dead. It’s been dead for a year, and it was here too long. This is a bit like an iMac Pro, but just, you know, way better. – Oh, but the display is a really boring product, and I’ll explain why later.

Remember what used to happen when the iMac got hooked up to a Cinema Display in the past? The heights didn’t match. And if you want to switch out your computer often to stay on the cutting edge, you probably don’t need to replace the display, there’s nothing wrong with those. And even if you’re reselling your system, that little box is way easier to ship to the new owner than a huge display panel. Way less delicate, and you just unplug your old one and plug in your new one. Simples.

But of course, as usual, Apple’s names make NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. Because you know that Mac Pro thing? The super expensive one that you can spec out to $56,000? The Mac Studio is about 21% faster and costs $3999. SORRY INTEL. This is faster than your 28 core xeon Mac Pro. Substantially. And yet… Not Pro?

Also, just like the new MacBook Pros, the Mac Studio

Why the display sucks. And why they might for a while

#iCaveAnswers… So why do the performance improvement suggestions on the Apple site look so poor? E.g. Photoshop 2.2x faster with M1 Max and only 2.5x faster with M1 Ultra? Poor software engineering?

I wonder if they’ll release a Mini with an M1 Pro chip later on in the year.

#icaveanswers Do you think the Studio Display will work with Windows laptops (via thunderbolt)? Particularly, will the camera and speakers still function? I’m okay with software audio controls.

#icaveanswers do you think apple will add m1 max ultra to the 16.2 inch MacBook Pro , also any release for the m2 max Mac book pros

#icaveanswers So, after we got the cool new Mac Mini Pro (Mac Studio) and the über cool new monitor, Apple informed us that there is only one computer left in the transition to Apple Silicon as far as I understand it. It’s the next gen Mac Pro. How is that going to work out with the modular design you think?
Where is the 27″ – 32″ iMac? Has it been cannibalized by the new Studio line-up you think?

#iCaveAnswers Will you be upgrading to a Mac Studio or sticking with the Mini?
Also, what do you think the chances are of Apple releasing an M1Pro version of the Mac Mini to replace the Intel model?
