How to use Stage Manager on an External Monitor with iPadOS 16 on iPad Air & iPad Pro M1 iPad Pro M2

How to use Stage Manager on an External Monitor with iPadOS 16 on an iPad Air M1, iPad Pro M1, future iPad Pro M2 and other future iPad Pro and iPads that support at least iPadOS 16 and at least an Apple Silicon M2 processor.

In this video I show how to connect an iPad Pro M1 to an external HDMI monitor or TV so you can use the Stage Manager function of iPadOS 16 on the external display. This same process will work on the M1 iPad Air and any future iPad Pro M2 or M2 iPad devices that will have iPadOS 16 and the Stage Manager function for external HDMI monitor.

Basically, Stage Manager on an external computer monitor, TV or other display, will only be available to iPad devices, Pro or otherwise, that have at least the Apple Silicon M1 processor and any future ARM processors such as the Apple Silicon M2, Apple Silicon M3 etc.

For this example I’m using a USB C hub by Cable Creation. This gives you a 4K 60FPS HDMI output as well as two USB A ports that are USB 3, a gigabit ethernet port, full size and micro SD card slots and a USB C input for power.

The important thing here with the Cable Creation USB C hub is that while it does not go full height in mirrored mode it does go full 16:9 widescreen when in extended desktop mode. In extended mode you can also switch on Stage Manager.

Keep an eye on my channel as I will be doing a lot more videos about iPadOS 16 and Stage Manager during the beta stage and on final release. There will also be some gaming on iPad Pro videos.

I will also be getting the next iPad Pro, which should be the 2022 iPad Pro M2 and will show various desktop setups with that and how to connect external SSD drives and storage devices as well as how to connect the 2022 iPad Pro M2 to an external HDMI monitor using USB C hubs and USB C to HDMI cables and various other compatible peripherals for the 2022 iPad Pro M2. I’ll also do some comparisons comparing the 2021 iPad Pro M1 VS 2022 iPad Pro M2.
