This algebra math video tutorial explains how to find the square root of a decimal number using a special trick / technique and using scientific notation in addition to simplifying radicals. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems. Take the square root of the decimal number and divide the number of digits by 2. If there are 8 digits to the right of the decimal, then the final answer will have 3 digits to the right of the decimal point. If there are 6 digits, then the answer will have 3 digits. 4 digits to 2 digits and 2 digits to 1 digit and so forth. It works only for numbers with even digits. .
