iOS 15 Battery Life / Performance Test

Hello everyone, and welcome to the iOS 15 battery performance video.

Normally I never do Battery tests on Beta versions as we all know it is prone
to have bad battery life. But I was curious to see how bad it was, and also
inspired by tweets where I saw that people felt they got good battery life out
of iOS 15 Beta 1.
I am not using the normal devices, because I would need to upgrade and downgrade them, and that is too much work. So I will only do it on limited devices I have extra. In the test I use an iPhone 6S and iPhone 7, and they are NOT the ones I used in the normal battery test videos, however both of them show 100% battery health. But something is fishy with the 6S’ battery as it gets a pretty bad score vs the device I use in my normal tests. BUT DO NOT FOCUS ON THE SCORE IT SELF.
But rather on the difference between the iOS 14 and iOS 15 scores. Batteries have their own life, so it is not fair to compare one device to another, but better to compare the same devices score to it self. That said, I do not understand how it can perform like it does with 100% battery life. Not so sure how accurate that rating is.
Normally I also wait 3-4 days after updating to let the software settle in, but this time the test was made around 14 hours after updating.

Before the test was run the devices were set to 25% display brightness, auto brightness has been disabled, all devices use same settings, and are connected to the same access point.

How Geekbench works :

Geekbench 4 battery scores measure the battery life of a device when running processor-intensive applications. It provides a consistent workload to the device, and generates a Geekbench score by evaluating the amount of work that it is able to do while the battery is discharging and the amount of time it takes for the battery to discharge.

The battery benchmark can be run in Full Discharge mode, from 100% to 0% battery level, to provide a high level of confidence in a device’s battery performance. The battery benchmark can also be run in Partial Discharge mode, for 3 hours. If the battery benchmark is stopped after 10 minutes, by the user or by the battery reaching 0%, then the result will be saved and can be uploaded. Battery benchmark scores gathered by any method except the Full Discharge mode provide a medium level of confidence in a device’s battery performance, and longer tests are more reliable.

When comparing scores, remember that higher scores are better, and double the score indicates double the performance.
