iOS 15.4.1 Final Battery Life / Battery Drain / Battery Performance Test.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the iOS 15.4 battery performance video.

iOS 15.4.1 was released as expected on March 31, 2022.

This video is interesting, at least for me to do, as Apple has claimed that they have included a battery
drain fix in iOS 15.4.1… .interesting to see if it includes all devices, any at all or is it just a
placebo for us to think that it has improved our battery life. Well lets test and see if we can find out.

Keep in mind that the iPhone 6S had a new battery installed for the All Versions Battery Test Video see link below

Some of the charts were not 100% correct here are a link for the 2 that were wrong.

This video was shot 2 days iOS 15.4.1 was installed, so it had some time to settle in. I have seen many comments that it takes about a week for battery performance to optimize itself after an iOS update. I have always been skeptical of this statement as I have never personally had bad battery life right after I update. If I restore and download backup from iCloud well then that is another story. So I decided to run the battery test 6 days after I updated them. In those 2 days they were just idling with power connected. So let’s run the battery test again, and see if we will get some different results this time around.

Before the test was run the devices were set to 25% display brightness, auto brightness has been disabled, all devices use same settings, and are connected to the same access point.

How Geekbench works :

Geekbench 4 battery scores measure the battery life of a device when running processor-intensive applications. It provides a consistent workload to the device, and generates a Geekbench score by evaluating the amount of work that it is able to do while the battery is discharging and the amount of time it takes for the battery to discharge.

The battery benchmark can be run in Full Discharge mode, from 100% to 0% battery level, to provide a high level of confidence in a device’s battery performance. The battery benchmark can also be run in Partial Discharge mode, for 3 hours. If the battery benchmark is stopped after 10 minutes, by the user or by the battery reaching 0%, then the result will be saved and can be uploaded. Battery benchmark scores gathered by any method except the Full Discharge mode provide a medium level of confidence in a device’s battery performance, and longer tests are more reliable.

When comparing scores, remember that higher scores are better, and double the score indicates double the performance.
