Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) | Hands-on review | What’s changed?

Hands-on review of Samsung’s Galaxy S20 FE (or S20 Fan Edition to give the full title), a slightly cheaper new LTE/5G version of the 2020 flagship phone. Here’s a run through of the specs, a tour of the camera tech, and a closer look at all the features of the Samsung S20 FE. The Fan Edition is released in the UK on October 2, with a price of £599 for the LTE or £699 for the 5G model. Full unboxing coming soon!

This 6.5-inch smartphone is closer in stature to the Plus-sized original, although that screen resolution has dropped to FHD+ vs the flagships. You still get a triple-lens camera, including a 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Not as strong as the 64MP zoom lens, but you can still pinch in to 30x, as you’ll see in my tests.

Most of the camera features are still packed into the Samsung S20 FE, although this Fan Edition skips on 8K video recording and some Pro Video tools.

This phone comes in a bright range of colours, which you can grab right here in the UK. You’ve got Samsung’s full One UI 2.5 software experience, while performance comes courtesy of the Snapdragon 865 – if you bag the 5G model. LTE is still served by Exynos.
