Range test: 200 mile trip in a Tesla Model 3!

We went on a 216-mile trip in our 2018 Mid Range Model 3, and I wanted to see if it would make the whole trip on only one charge.

In theory, it should be possible because the battery range is 251 miles, more than the 216 mile trip. However, electric vehicle range often varies a lot depending on environmental factors such as cargo weight, speed, hills, and use of the HVAC.

The trip computer calculated that we would in fact need to make a stop, which implies that it took into consideration the external environmental factors. I still wanted to try to make it in one go, to see how far we could push the limits of the battery.

It turns out that we probably could’ve, but the range anxiety was too real. We opted to just stop by a convenient supercharger on the way back home, and all was fine.

I hope you enjoyed watching our trip and what it’s like to take a long drive in a Tesla! Let me know your thoughts below!
