David and David explain how to fix the problem when your iPhone won’t charge. A lot of the time, this issue is caused by a software problem, not a hardware problem.
1. Introduction [0:00]
2. Hard Reset Your iPhone [0:03]
3. Clean Out Your iPhone’s Charging Port [1:15]
4. Make Sure Your Charging Cable Isn’t Damaged [2:31]
5. Try A Different Charger Or Power Outlet [3:18]
6. Back Up & DFU Restore Your iPhone [3:58]
7. Repair Or Replace Your iPhone [4:33]
The first thing to try is a hard reset. This forces your iPhone to abruptly turn off and back on. It’s possible your iPhone screen has gone black, making it appear like it won’t charge, even though it has been on the entire time!
Next, clean out your iPhone’s charging port. Dirt or gunk in the charging port could be preventing your iPhone from making a clean connection to your Lightning cable. It’s also a good idea to try multiple chargers and multiple cables.
If none of these steps work, back up your iPhone and put it in DFU mode.
