Why are there very few 120W charging products?Lu Weibing: Expensive + chip shortage

Last night, Xiaomi’s new generation of MIX series-Xiaomi MIX 4 was officially released, starting at 4999 yuan.

As Xiaomi’s flagship of the year, Xiaomi MIX 4, in addition to the first Snapdragon 888 Plus processor, also supports 120W wired second charging and 50W wireless second charging.

Today, Lu Weibing, a partner of Xiaomi Group, president of the China region and international department, and general manager of the Redmi brand, stated on the social platform that MIX4 equipped with 120W speed mode can be fully charged in 15 minutes.

There are very few reasons for the current 120W charging products.

Lu Weibing said that on the one hand it is expensive, on the other hand it is due to the lack of chips.

It is worth mentioning that Lu Weibing also issued a “How much premium is 120W over 67W?”

As of press time, 3242 people have chosen the premium 100 yuan, 1957 people have chosen 200 yuan, and 1248 people have chosen the 500 yuan+ option.

It is reported that in May of this year, Xiaomi mobile phone announced that the magic revision of Xiaomi 11 Pro broke two world records.

Among them, wired charging achieves 200W power and 100% charging in 8 minutes, claiming to enter the 10-minute era for wired charging for the first time.

At the same time, wireless charging achieves a power of 120 watts, charging 100% in 15 minutes, claiming to break the 100 watt mark for the first time in wireless charging.

Officials said that Xiaomi will always strive to be the leader in mobile phone charging.

According to the official video, 200W wired charging can charge 10% in 44 seconds and 50% in 3 minutes. The 120W wireless charging can charge 10% in 1 minute and 50% in 7 minutes.

However, it should be noted that the battery capacity of the Magic Revised Edition is only 4000mAh, while the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro is originally equipped with a 5000mAh nano-silicon negative battery.
