Serious damage has happened to our Tesla Model Y over the last 25k miles. I didn’t really know the extent until I took a much closer look.
Let this video be a warning for your Model Y, protect this car! The design of the body makes it so that damaging the paint is easy to do. The front wheels kick up rocks and debris and throw them directly at your rear door. Without some protection, the paint is sacrificed.
Fortunately there are now a number of aftermarket options, as well as Tesla direct options. Tesla now has a mud flap option and is also offering a PPF kit for the rear quarter of the doors.
I purchased and installed these and only wish I could have had them on my Model Y from the very beginning.
If you have a Model Y, or are going to be taking delivery soon, do yourself a favor and order the PPF kit from Tesla, and get mud flaps, either from Tesla or aftermarket.
