Hands-on with the NEW Windows 11 Build 22000.160!

Microsoft has released another new build of Windows 11, and along with the usual list of improvements and fixes, this latest build comes with an update to the Clock app! This app joins Snipping Tool, Calculator, and Mail & Calendar in getting a new Windows 11 refresh, with Paint teased as getting a similar update, arriving in the coming weeks.

Apart from that, Microsoft has also released today the first-ever official Windows 11 ISOs for Insiders who would like to do a clean install or an in-place upgrade of the OS. ISOs for the Windows 10 Insider build 22000.132, which was released last week, can be found on the Windows Insider Preview Downloads page.

Focus Sessions is designed to help “achieve your goals and get more done” by allowing you to set a period of focused work, complete with music background via Spotify, integration with Microsoft To Do, Habit Building for setting and tracking daily goals, and a Windows 11 clean and simple interface. The update has been teased by the firm in the past by Panos Panay. But now, it’s finally available for Windows Insiders!

➤ FULL CHANGELOG HERE:

CHANGES AND IMPROVEMENTS:
● The new Clock app for Windows 11 with Focus Sessions has begun rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. See this blog post for all the details!
● We have been testing the ability to see estimates for how long a restart for updates would take in places like the power menu under Start, in restart notifications, on the Windows Update Settings page and inside the Windows Update icon that shows up at the lower right of Taskbar. We are making a small adjustment for this feature so that it only shows on PCs with SSDs. If your PC has a standard HDD, you will no longer see estimates. We hope to bring estimates back to PCs with HDDs once we iron out a few more bugs.

FIXES:
Taskbar:
● We fixed an issue where the “location in use” icon was showing in the Taskbar sometimes even though the usage was blocked by your preferences.

What’s still missing in these builds is support for running Android apps on Windows 11 through the Microsoft Store via an in-built Amazon app store. While Microsoft showed off the capability as part of the original Windows 11 announcement, the feature isn’t yet available for Insiders, even as builds have now begun rolling out to the Beta channel. It is anybody’s guess whether the feature will make it in time for the official release of Windows 11.
