Huawei P50 exposure: OLED screen is already preparing or mixing Kirin and third-party chips

The Mate 40 series was released as scheduled, but Huawei’s 5G mobile phone chips are still limited. Will the next-generation flagship P50 series be released as scheduled?

A few days ago, Korean media TheElec reported that Huawei plans to release the P50 series sometime in the first half of next year. Currently, Samsung and LG Display are preparing for the supply of their OLED screens.

It is reported that the production schedule of the P50 series has been determined, but it is not clear whether the next-generation Mate series will be ordered.

Huawei’s latest flagship processor, the Kirin 9000, was launched from the Mate 40 series released last month. According to past practices, it is expected to be used in the P50 series.

But now the Kirin 9000 chip inventory is limited, foreign media PA said that it is difficult for Huawei to have enough chips for the P50 series, or it will be supported by Qualcomm or MediaTek SoC. But whether it can be realized is still unknown.

At present, the Mate 40 series is in short supply in the Chinese market, and some models are out of stock.

Foreign media PA said that given that the demand for Mate 40 series may exceed 10 million units this year, it is uncertain how Huawei will allocate its meager inventory of Kirin chips to the two flagship series.

According to reports, Huawei’s P and Mate series mobile phones shipped 44 million units in 2019. The company said that due to the sanctions imposed by the United States, its sales in 2019 decreased by 60 million units. Not surprisingly, Huawei’s shipments may fall further this year.

A few days ago, a report released by Gartner showed that in the third quarter of this year, Huawei exceeded 51.83 million units, with a market share of 14.4%, ranking second in the world.
