Looking forward to looking forward, just yesterday, Shichao’s Xiaomi Mi 11 finally waited for the push of the MIUI 13 stable version:
As a user who bought the Mi 11 with real money at its launch, I have a love-hate relationship with this phone.
What I love is its thin and light body and delicate screen, and what I hate, of course, is that it has a bug-prone system.
And, I don’t know why, among the flagships that Xiaomi released last year, such as Xiaomi 11, 11 Pro and 11 Ultra, the system fluency of Xiaomi 11 gave me the feeling of being the worst among the three phones.
Aside from extreme usage scenarios, Xiaomi Mi 11 suffers from frame drops due to body heat much more frequently than the other two phones during daily use, so that I have the idea of changing phones~
However, after upgrading Mi 11 to MIUI 13 and experiencing it for a while, I decided to postpone my replacement schedule a little bit.
Because on the MIUI 13 system, I seem to see that the once smooth and easy-to-use MIUI system is back!
MIUI 9 should be the best Xiaomi system in recent years ▼
Without further ado, let me tell you in detail what new features are added to MIUI 13 this time, and what are its shortcomings.
Let’s talk about the new features first.
The most obvious upgrade of MIUI 13 this time is that it brings us a series of new widgets, click the “+” sign in the upper right corner of the negative screen, or pinch with two fingers on the desktop, you can call up the add widget interface:
You can see that MIUI 13 provides a wide variety of widgets. In addition to regular system widgets such as clock, weather, and calendar, there are also many personalized widgets and third-party application widgets.
The biggest difference between these new widgets on MIUI 13 and the original widgets is that they have been specially adapted, not only the aesthetics have been greatly improved, but also the practicability is much stronger than before.
Take the clock as an example. On MIUI 12.5, it has only a few very simple clock widgets, so ugly that I don’t usually use them at all:
On MIUI 13, the clock alone has more than 30 widgets of various styles and styles to choose from, and there is always one that catches your eye:
Although there are not many third-party application widgets at present, Shichao simply took a look. Our usual apps such as Alipay, Netease Cloud Music, Weibo, AutoNavi Maps, etc. have basically been adapted:
With these widgets, now I can directly enter the secondary interface of these third-party apps by clicking on the widgets on the desktop, and the operation efficiency will undoubtedly be much improved compared to the original opening of the app and then operation:
It’s just that the style and style of these third-party application widgets in MIUI 13 always make me feel a bit like iOS 15.
iOS 15 provides widgets of 1*1, 2*1, 2*2 and other sizes for us to choose from:
The widgets of MIUI 13 are basically these sizes too:
iOS 15 supports us to place widgets on the negative screen or on the desktop:
MIUI 13 also supports us to put the components on one screen and desktop:
It seems that Mr. Lei said at the Xiaomi 12 series conference that Xiaomi will officially benchmark against Apple, and learning from Apple is really not just talking, but already doing it~
The most interesting of these widgets is the personality widget.
Whether it’s personalized signatures, personalized tools, or personalized stickers, they are very playable, and we can still make the mobile desktop look better even without the help of third-party launchers!
This time MIUI 13 also added 10 glass wallpapers and 9 crystal wallpapers to the system wallpapers.
Among them, these dynamic crystallization wallpapers were all taken by polarized light microscopes, and recorded the crystallization process of different crystals such as vitamin C and citric acid.
In contrast, I still like the glazed wallpapers more, at least they can echo the color of my phone case:
In addition to the previous widgets and wallpapers, MIUI 13 also supports our personalized Xiao Ai classmates.
Now Xiao Ai’s image, voice, and wake-up words can be customized according to our preferences. After the customization, once we call Xiao Ai, the customized image will appear, and the two-dimensional concentration will be filled directly:
In terms of MIUI’s strong privacy protection, MIUI 13 also brings us several very useful new features, namely face verification protection, document privacy watermarking and full-link fraud protection.
Face verification protection can achieve system-level occlusion of other pictures except the face by intelligently recognizing faces during video calls or face verification, so that we really only show one face instead of the entire upper body:
Shichao did a simple test and found that its occlusion effect is very ok, and the screen basically locks the face, just looking at some ghosts:
The certificate privacy watermark supports us to quickly add a watermark to sensitive documents such as ID cards to limit the use of the certificate. The effect is almost as follows (I added a watermark only for XXX):
As for the last privacy feature, full-link fraud protection.
Since Shichao has not received fraudulent calls recently, nor installed any fraudulent apps, nor has it transferred accounts to strangers, it is not known how effective it is for the time being.
This time, MIUI 13 also brings us some Xiaomi Mixiang functions. After logging in to the same Xiaomi account on the phone and tablet, verification codes, photos, hotspots, and clipboards can be seamlessly transferred between the phone and the tablet.
It’s a pity that Shichao only has a mobile phone, so he can’t show it to the poor friends.
Compared with these new features that we are more likely to perceive, the other upgrades of MIUI 13 are a little insignificant.
For example, MIUI 13 has added the MiSans font this time, which is not much different from the Xiao Milan Pavilion Pro used in MIUI 12.5. The difference seems to be that the font thickness and spacing are different:
The sidebar that could only be opened in games and videos in the past has also become a global sidebar on MIUI 13. Now no matter what interface you are in, you can call up the sidebar at any time to open the application in the form of a small window:
In short, in terms of new functions, Shichao thinks that the new functions of MIUI 13 are not very good, it can only be said that they are getting more and more perfect!
The most surprising thing about MIUI 13 this time is its improvement in fluency and stability.
According to the official statement, MIUI 13 has undergone comprehensive and meticulous optimization from the underlying framework to the upper-level applications, thus bringing us a comprehensive and smooth experience, which is significantly improved compared to the MIUI 12.5 enhanced version.
How about the actual optimization effect? Let’s just watch the screen recording directly: , duration 00:33
The poor friends can see that whether it is entering the desktop from the lock screen, or swiping the negative screen to load a picture, or interrupting the opening application in the middle, the animation is very smooth, and the feedback is also very fast.
In addition, I noticed that the MIUI 12.5 enhanced version has not solved the extremely slow image loading in the dual-open software, which is extremely affecting the experience. It was finally solved by Xiaomi on MIUI 13.
I have never encountered other small bugs after I upgraded the new system. It seems that Jin Fan, the person in charge of MIUI, said at the Xiaomi conference that MIUI 13 has solved more than 400 problems.
It is also based on the stable and smooth system experience of MIUI 13, I have asked my girlfriend to start the Xiaomi 12X not long ago ~
Of course, after upgrading from the original MIUI 12.5 enhanced version to MIUI 13, the new system makes me uncomfortable.
Among them, the place I want to complain the most is that MIUI 13 has fewer apps that support forced dark mode than MIUI 12.5. Apps that suddenly brush to a white background at night are not too distracting. . .
In addition, I also encountered some new bugs in the process of use. Although it will not affect the use of the mobile phone, it is quite annoying. These require Xiaomi to improve them in subsequent updates.
In general, although the new features of MIUI 13 this time are limited, its improvement in stability and fluency is huge.
After more than a year of word-of-mouth collapse, MIUI is finally no longer a shortcoming of Xiaomi. I hope Xiaomi can make persistent efforts, and don’t let users down in the future. Thank you for watching!
