The only high-end computer without “high frame rate”? Research reveals that iPhone 14 still does not support 120Hz

Well-known panel analyst Ross Young revealed on Twitter that Apple may not extend its own ProMotion technology, the adaptive 120Hz function, to the entire iPhone 14 series, still the same as the iPhone 13 series, maintaining that only the Pro series has this specification. This could make the iPhone 14 the only high-end smartphone on the market without a high frame rate design.

Ross Young pointed out that the reason for this is that Apple’s suppliers cannot provide enough capacity to ensure that every iPhone 14 can support the ProMotion function. Ross Young also suggested that Apple could try to cooperate with China’s BOE on LTPO OLED panels, but he admitted that BOE does not currently have enough capacity to meet Apple’s requirements.

With ProMotion, Apple devices can automatically adjust the screen frame rate according to the content of the user, such as 120Hz when playing games, and only 10Hz when reading e-books statically. At present, Apple’s products that support the ProMotion function are still dominated by the iPad Pro, and the recent new ones with this function include the new generation MacBook Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro series.

It is expected that Apple will still release four new iPhones this fall, including two 6.1-inch models and two 6.7-inch models, which are also divided into Pro series and basic models.
