The rumors about the Tesla Model Pi phone started when famous designer Antonio De Rosa and his ADR Studio Design lab released a model of what a Tesla phone might look like. It might have been just another fun project that De Rosa used to remind us of his world-class design skills, but it’s now seemingly becoming a reality as time goes by.
So, how does this concept phone rate? Is it better than the other smartphones that are already on the market? Let’s look at some of the rumored new Tesla phone features that this phone will be installed with, and which are set to make it more competitive.

Starlink Connectivity
Starlink may be a project that is a long way from being a reality but once realized, its compatibility with the Tesla phone is certainly a no-brainer. if you are still green on the concept of Starlink, allow us to bring you up to date. Starlink is a service developed by SpaceX that offers internet access from any point in the world. To achieve this feat, the company plans to launch thousands of small satellites into low earth orbit-say about 350 miles above the earth.
In an email sent to a group of beta testers, the Starlink team revealed that the testers should expect to see download speeds varying between 50 mb/s and 150 mb/s. in the future, Starlink’s download speeds are expected to clock an impressive 210 mb/s. This is already a huge improvement from other satellites such as the HughesNet satellite whose download speeds rarely exceed 25 mb/s. With that said, we are almost certain that Starlink’s support in the Model Pi is an obvious move for Tesla. Oh, and did we mention that the Tesla phone would be able to function fully even on Mars? Connectivity to Starlink would enable Model Pi to work even when on Mars. This would make it easier for the human race that decides to shift to Mars to communicate with Earthlings.
Neuralink Integration
The Tesla phone is also expected to be integrated with Neuralink. Neuralink is yet another ambitious project by Musk that aims to develop ultra-high bandwidth gadgets that link a human brain to a computer. For one to connect with the computers, the gadget will be implanted into their brain through a surgical procedure. Tesla will make history if it manages to integrate such a next-level piece of technology into its smartphone.
Camera lenses
Going by the concept designs that have been released, Model Pi will have four lenses, arranged in a square-like manner. This is in contrast to other high-end phones such as the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max which has three camera lenses. The cameras in Model Pi can be used simultaneously such that when one is being used to capture still images, another one can be used to record a video. Although no official figures have been released, it is reported that the main camera has a resolution of 108MP.
Tesla phone release date and price:
Tesla is yet to give official information on when the Model Pi phone will be released. However, various sources have given an ambitious release date of December 2022, while others claim that the phone may hit the market closer to 2030. It remains a huge wait-and-see game on the exact release date.
In terms of price, this smartphone is expected to cost in the region of $800-$1,200, although this is also largely speculative. Also, it is expected that Tesla will announce the phone several months before the official release. Therefore, pre-orders may also start earlier.
Although the Tesla Model Pi phone is yet to be confirmed by Tesla, it’s an idea that is surely bound to disrupt the smartphone market that has been dominated by a few players for many years now.
