Let’s get started with Nvidia. It’s now been a year since the announcement of their RTX 3000 series of GPU’s. This means that we’re halfway until they release a brand new generation. Now, Of course, we know that more RTX 3000 GPU’s are apparently going make their way in 2022, like the 3090 ti, the apparent refresh of the RTX 3080 with 12 GB, and the 3070 ti 16Gig, but still, all leaks and rumors still point to a 2022 release for the first RTX 4000 GPU’s.

And that next generation… well, it’s been a little confusing because Nvidia is once again, changing its usual behavior for their stack of products.

For example, with Turing GPU’s. The entire stack of products from gaming to Datacenters was Turing. And they were all made by TSMC. Then came ampere, and Nvidia kept the same architecture, but the data center and AI stuff was built at TSMC for their better 7nm process, and gaming gpu’s were built at Samsung on their 8nm process.

Now, allegedly, Nvidia will switch things up again. First, they will use 2 completely different architectures for data center slash AI and for the mainstream gaming products. For Data Centers, we got the Hopper Architecture. It’s basically going to be like AMD’s Mi200. Multi-chip gpu, with HBM. Hopper would be built by TSMC on their 5nm process and COWOS technology.

Then for gamers, we’re going to get the Ada Lovelace Architecture at around the same time. No chiplets, Its going to be monolithic and yes, its the GPU’s that we’re all a little afraid of thanks to its probably half a kilowatt power consumption. It would be based on TSMC’s 5nm process node. Given all the rumors about early 2022 launches, I would expect those RTX 4000 GPU’s to come very late in 2022.
