Apple seems to have gone back to the drawing board for the sixth generation of the iPad Mini. According to a report, Apple’s latest tablet has been in the works for two and half years, and the result is simply mind-blowing.

The iPad mini has the same attractive aluminum enclosure as the iPad Pro and iPad Air, but there is something about this device that has got many people talking.

Let’s start with the Design.
The iPad mini isn’t small enough for one-handed use, but its small size makes it noticeably easier to use than even the iPad Air 4.

Its dimensions of 195.4 x 134.8 x 6.3 mm make it one of the smallest tablets to be used, and it is a pleasant experience.
It has a flat-edged design that is more similar to the iPad Air 4 or the new iPhone 13 and feels premium, with a brushed metallic effect on the back of the tablet.

It comes in a four-color option, purple, pink, space gray, and off-white.
The purple and pink colors are bolder and more vivid than the options for the iPad mini 2019 or iPad Pro 2021.
The iPad mini weighs 293 grams so that it can be easily stored in a pocket, and even a large jacket pocket, without feeling the added weight.

Apple moved the buttons on the new iPad mini a bit, and now you can find the volume buttons at the top, in the upper right corner.

Display
The iPad mini has an 8.3-inch liquid retina display that offers good image quality. The resolution is 2266 x 1488, which is 326 pixels per inch. Though it is fine for a tablet, it’s not the best resolution we’ve seen on a whiteboard, and especially when watching videos, the resolution isn’t as strong as some Android tablets or even the iPad Pro 2021 lineup.

Specification, performance, and camera
The iPad mini 2021 is powered by Apple’s new A15 Bionic chipset. It’s the same processor as the iPhone 13 series, and it’s powerful enough to run any app or game you can find in the App Store.

iPad mini has 5G connectivity, although the tablet does not support mmWave 5G. So, if you’re a Verizon customer, here’s what to check before buying the tablet.

Software
The iPad mini ships with iPadOS 15, and Apple’s tablet-optimized operating system works well on Apple’s smaller screen tablet.
iPadOS 15 brings home screen widget updates that are welcome on the new iPad mini. There’s also a new way to enable one-tap split-screen mode, which is another significant improvement.

Battery life
Don’t expect a super long battery life from the iPad mini 2021, although it’s good enough to last a full day of typical use.
Apple estimates that you can get up to 10 hours of use while browsing the internet or watching videos over Wi-Fi. Your iPad mini may not last as long if you use the tablet at full brightness and switch between multiple apps; we have around eight hours of battery life with more intensive use.
