The foreign technology website “GSMArena” found that Google’s new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which are expected to be launched this fall, will use a 2+2+4 core design for the processing chip “Tensor 2” and use a Cortex-A55 small chip. core, and the X1 big core of the original Tensor chip. This seems to mean that users expecting flagship performance from Tensor chips may be disappointed.

It is estimated that the performance level of this chip may fall at the level of MediaTek’s “Dimensity 8000 series”, which is less than the level of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. However, not “sprinting” CPU processing performance seems to be the design direction of Tensor, and estimating its AI-related neural calculus may be the focus of the upgrade. In addition, there is no data on GPU graphics performance of Tensor 2 yet; the second-generation Tensor chip is also expected to be produced by Samsung.

Other known specs for the Pixel 7 include a Samsung-made display panel with a brightness boost of 1,000 nits and a resolution of the Pixel 6’s 3,120 x 1,440, but a new native 1080p mode option to reduce power consumption. In addition, the Pixel 7 Pro is also rumored to have a separate tactile sensor chip, which seems to imply related applications or upgrades.

The news also said that the Pixel 7 series will fully support 4K front lens recording, unlike the previous generation Pixel 6 series, which must be available until the Pixel 6 Pro.
