Nvidia NVENC vs Intel Quick Sync vs AMD VCE encoding in HandBrake, h.264 & h.265 encoding time

In a recent video I showed how to enable GPU/hardware encoding in Handbrake and demonstrated how much it speeds up encoding times over traditional software encoding. Well, a friend of mine watched that video and asked me if he had to have a high end GPU in order to get the kind of results I was seeing? Since I had only tested using my RTX 2070 Super I didn’t know the answer to his question at first. This prompted me to grab my laptop and another friends computer and run some additional tests and what I learned I found very interesting and felt it would make a good video. So just as the title says, in this video I’m comparing Nvidia NVENC, Intel Quick Sync (QSV) and AMD VCE encoding to see what kind of difference there is between the different hardware encoders. I don’t have the resources of larger channels but was able to compare the video encoding performance between an RTX 2070 Super, a 1050ti, the UHD 630 graphics integrated into my laptops i7-8750h and an AMD Radeon RX 570. I also threw in some software/CPU encoding comparisons using my laptops i7-8750h and my desktops Ryzen 9 3900X just to show how much quicker GPU/hardware encoding is. I know that this video is going to be pretty niche and that not too many people are ever going to watch it and that even fewer will read this description but for those of you that do, I hope you enjoy the video and find the information useful/interesting. Cheers. 🙂
