If your a new owner of a Tesla Model 3 or just a long time owner who likes listening to new pro winter tips to learn, this video is great for that !!
The 6 Winter Pro Tips include:
1) Applying a Non-Water Based Silicone Lubricant on all the seals around the doors, window door trims, trunk and frunk. I also recommend spraying the hinges on the door handles as shown in the video.
2) If you park outdoors and your Car Charger doesn’t want to connect and start charging in your port due to the extreme cold, you can (at your own risk) apply a Instant Gel Heat Pack Hand Warmer to the Charger Port. If you leave it in there for a minute, it radiates enough heat to release and the charger will begin charging. You can get these instant heat hand warmers for like $3 a piece or a big box on Amazon.
3) Chill Mode in your car settings. You will go to your quick controls and select Acceleration and there are 2 options. Chill Mode or Standard. Chill Mode will allow your vehicle to decrease that fast instant torque acceleration which causes your vehicles wheels to spin off.
Put your vehicles regenerative braking on Low versus Standard. It has less likely hood of your vehicle loosing traction and possibly skidding. When it’s in standard mode in has a strong lift off and that’s what causes a problem on snow covered roads. By putting it in Low Regen you lower the risk of that happening.
4) Precondition your battery if you know your planning on going on a trip or somewhere. Also precondition it if its been standing out in the cold awhile. To precondition your battery you want to turn on the Climate Control from your Tesla Car App on your phone. Heat the vehicle first but best with the butt seat warms to heat up the interion cabin. This is the most effective way to use your battery in the winter cold months.
5) Turn OFF Mirror Auto Fold in the Winter cold months. This will minimize the risk of it getting frozen and jamming not being able to unfold.
