It turns out that Samsung Display has filed four trademark trademarks for the next-generation folding smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Four new display-related trademarks filed
Samsung has already applied for multiple trademark registrations, including Armor Frame, Armor Skin, Armor Layer, and Pro-Shield. And all of these are expected to be related to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, which are expected to be announced in the summer.
According to Dutch media LetsGo Digital, Samsung has applied for new display-related trademarks “UTG 2.0”, “UTG +”, “S-UTG” and “Dragon Glass” in addition to the above.
Is there an enhanced version of UTG?
UTG is an abbreviation of “Ultra-Thin Glass” that Samsung has already installed in Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip, and “UTG 2.0”, “UTG +” and “S-UTG” are all enhanced UTG. LetsGo Digital speculates that it will be adopted in the next folding smartphone.
And “Dragon Glass” could mean tempered glass that covers the display surface.
