Japan Cyber Crime Countermeasure Center, iPhone introduction of fraudulent tricks etc. with video

Suspicious man calling

On July 2, the Japan Cybercrime Countermeasure Center (JC3) released a video introducing the techniques of support scams and iPhone winning scams, which have been confirmed to be damaged even these days.

“Support fraud” that displays a fake security warning screen and urges you to contract for paid services

Support fraud is a fraud in which a fake security warning screen is displayed on the screen and contracts for paid services are made.

In support scams, when you visit certain sites, you’ll suddenly get a warning screen or a printer selection screen for printing. The feature of these screens is that they are displayed repeatedly even if they are erased, which makes the user think that they have been infected with malware.

The support phone number is listed on the site, and when you make a call, you will be prompted to install software that remotely controls your PC, and you will be contracted for paid software and services.

“iPhone winning scam” that shows you that your iPhone has won and lets you enter your personal information

The iPhone winning scam is a scam claiming that you can purchase an iPhone for 100 yen by answering a questionnaire.

Like support scams, when you access a specific site, it is said that “You won the iPhone” suddenly appears on the screen, and you are prompted to enter your email address and credit card number along with the survey.

Workaround: Close the browser or restart the terminal

The Japan Cybercrime Countermeasure Center tells you not to panic even if the warning screen or the winning screen suddenly appears so that you do not suffer support fraud and iPhone damage, you should close the browser once or restart the PC. I will.

If you install the software that operates remotely by telephone, there is a risk of stealing information on your computer or being infected with malware, so you can change the ID/password of various accounts, restore your PC, etc. I am calling for attention.
