Apple iPad mini 6 renderings exposed: narrow frame + no Home button

Apple’s next-generation iPad mini has been rumored, and a major redesign is coming. The famous leaker Jon Prosser and the FrontPageTech team have produced a set of renderings based on the so-called device schematics and real machine images. The so-called “iPad mini 6” will undergo major changes, and its design is more similar to Apple’s other tablet computers.

According to leaked information, the iPad mini will not have a Home button. However, its size will be basically the same as the previous iPad mini 5, with only a 3 mm difference between the two.

The iPad mini 5 still has a Touch ID sensor, but it has been moved to the power button. The speakers of the device have also been greatly improved, and a source told Prosser that they sounded “very good.” Starting with this machine, Apple has completely abandoned the Lightning interface on the iPad and switched to a full USB-C interface. The “iPad mini 6” will have silver, black and gold in the body.

Prosser also believes that recent rumors about the “Apple Pencil 3” may actually refer to a smaller stylus model designed for the iPad mini, but this seems to be just a guess.

Earlier in June, Bloomberg reported that Apple is developing a new iPad mini with a thinner display frame and no Home button. The report pointed out that the iPad mini may be unveiled as early as 2021 with the thinner iPad entry-level version with a focus on education.

In addition, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple will launch an iPad mini without a Home button in 2021. The diagonal of the display will be between 8.5 inches and 9 inches. These specifications were also responded to in January’s supply chain rumors.
