The Kyoto Shimbun reported on July 20 that a female dispatched employee who was an au salesperson was arrested on suspicion of misusing a customer’s d POINT.

Unauthorized use of customer’s d points

According to the Kyoto Shimbun, in January 2021, the suspect who was an au salesperson at a consumer electronics retailer operated the smartphone of a docomo user who visited to check the price and set d points so that the suspect himself could use it. ..

The person in charge of DoCoMo is absent, and it seems that the suspect took action instead.

The suspect is believed to have used the victim’s d POINTs illegally to purchase groceries of about 10,000 yen at department stores, etc., and was arrested by the Kyoto Prefectural Police on July 20 on suspicion of fraud.

After hearing the d account ID and password from the victim, it is possible that they abused the “point sharing group” provided by NTT DoCoMo and registered their own d point card in the victim group.

When the suspect illegally used d POINT, a suspicious d POINT usage history was sent to the victim by e-mail, and the incident was discovered.

According to the Sankei Shimbun, the suspect has denied the charges.

Regarding NTT DoCoMo, the damage caused by unauthorized use of the DoCoMo account occurred in September 2020, but it seems that it is a rare case that a retailer of another company misuses the customer’s d POINT like this time.
