Tim Cook talks to employees about the proceedings with Epic and the significance of the App Store

Tim Cook CEO September 2021 Apple Event

At Apple’s internal meeting, Tim Cook, CEO, shared with employees his thoughts and prospects about the proceedings with Epic Games.

“Apple is in a fiercely competitive market”

According to the news site The Verge, there was a scene where CEO Tim Cook talked to all employees at an in-house meeting at the new work presentation held the other day. He said he wanted to move forward from the Epic Games proceedings and hoped that the ruling would resolve questions about the App Store.

“The App Store was built as a reliable place for users to find and discover apps,” Cook said. “It was intended to be a great business opportunity for developers.” Was emphasized again. He added that while Epic Games “has been asking for different treatments over and over,” Apple has always tried to “treat everyone the same way” as a rule.

They have repeatedly asked for different treatments, but we have filed 10 proceedings for our refusal. The court ruled that Apple favored nine of them and Epic favored one. But most importantly, Apple was ruled not to be a monopoly. This would have been known to us all the time. Apple is in a fiercely competitive market.

Is Apple generally happy with the ruling?

At this internal meeting, it wasn’t mentioned whether to appeal the case that was lost, but Apple has stated that it is a “big win” after the ruling. Judge Yvonne Rogers, who ruled, said “success is not illegal” and did not say that the 30% fee Apple collects is too high.

Meanwhile, Epic Games has officially announced its intention to appeal the ruling.
