Bring the Safari address bar back to the top in iOS 15

Safari address bar top logoThose of you who have already installed the new iOS 15 on your iPhone and like to trust Apple’s Safari browser when surfing the Internet will have noticed that the address bar, which was otherwise always at the top, is now displayed at the bottom and scolds himself “Tabiste”. We’ll show you how you can get the old address bar back in Safari in no time.

Get back the old Safari address line in iOS 15

In the new iOS 15 there is a decisive change with regard to the navigation in the Safari app. After the update, the address bar can be found at the bottom of the screen by default and not at the top of the screen as before. The whole thing has its advantages: At the bottom you can reach the “tab bar” (as Apple calls it) much more easily with your thumb – especially if you have an iPhone with a large display. When you scroll through a website, the field disappears automatically and reappears as soon as you tap the bar.

If you – unlike us – cannot get used to the new Safari tab bar at all, you can easily undo the layout and move the address bar back to its original position at the top of the screen. There are two ways to do this, let’s start with the faster variant.

  1. Start the Safari app and open any website.
  2. Tap on the “Aa” icon in the tab bar on the left.
  3. Go to “Show address bar above” in the context menu.

From now on the address bar will be displayed at the top again. Alternatively, you can make the change in the Safari settings. Proceed as follows:

  1. Open the Settings app and select the “Safari” option.
  2. Now check the “Tabs” section for “Individual tab”.

From now on you will see the address bar at the top again as soon as you open the Safari app.
