Weibo user Kang Yasuaki, who provided fairly accurate leak information about the iPhone 12 series, actually tried using the MagSafe charger and found that “it is very difficult to continuously charge at 15W”. Okay, I posted on Weibo.
It takes 3 to 5 minutes to continuously charge at 15W
According to Kang, the MagSafe charger needs to be kept at a constant temperature for continuous 15W wireless charging.
However, since the main body gets hot quickly, it can only be charged continuously at 15W for about 3 to 5 minutes, “It is almost impossible to maintain 15W for a long time with this firmware.” ..
Firmware upgrade required
In other words, Kang argues that unless Apple upgrades the firmware on the iPhone side and MagSafe side, it can not be charged for a long time with 15 W output.
It has also been reported that it took an hour to charge the iPhone 12 50% with the MagSafe charger, which is about twice as long as the 20W USB-C charger.
