AirTag reports helped find stolen cars-overseas users

Apple AirTag April 2021 Event

Cases have been reported abroad that helped AirTag find a stolen car.

My car with AirTag stolen

When Reddit user thinkscotty went out to ride his 2010 Subaru Forester around 3am, he found it stolen.

He seems to have reported the theft by calling the police, but police officers said that it was unlikely that the stolen car could be found.

After that, thinkscotty remembered that he had an AirTag in the sunglasses holder in the car and checked the position.

Then, about 10 minutes later, the location on the outskirts of Chicago was displayed, so I contacted the police and searched for a parking lot at Walmart.

Unfortunately, all that was left on the scene was AirTag, which seems to have been thrown away by the thief, and I couldn’t find my favorite car.

The thief returns and is found and arrested

However, after a while, when I gave up and tried to go home, I found Mr. thinkscotty’s car coming into Walmart’s parking lot.

He immediately called the police and the thief on board was arrested.

Thinkscotty said, “I found my car thanks to AirTag, but I think I could find it sooner if I hid it better. My advice is to hide it well in a place where it doesn’t interfere with the transmission of Bluetooth signals. “.

Previously, it was reported that AirTags were installed in two places, a prominent place and an inconspicuous place, and a stolen electric kickboard was found.
