In the image posted by Mr. Zombetti, you can see that the development board of iPod touch (4th generation) has a display with a home button and a logic board.
It seems that the data can be read through the connector mounted on the development board.

Equipped with Apple A4 processor
The iPod touch (4th generation) was announced in 2010 and was equipped with an Apple A4 processor.
