Apple Music has recently been charged for alleged copyright infringement

Charming Beats stated that it owns the copyright to a song called “Anything You Synthesize”. The company said that Apple Music uploaded another song called “Caramelo” by French rapper Ninho, but the song “consists of unlicensed reproduction of music parts” and is a copy of its work.

In the lawsuit, Charming Beats stated that the lyrics of “Caramelo” were displayed on Apple’s website, along with a short excerpt and a link to listen to the full song on Apple Music.

The document stated: “The defendant Apple promised to play the full version of the infringing derivative on its service. This is quite tempting. But it is a false and misleading advertisement.”

In addition, Charming Beats claims that Apple’s advertisement includes a video of performer DeeBaby, encouraging people to listen to the complete song by joining Apple Music.

The company said in a court document: “DeeBaby is a notorious performer and his transgender remarks have been widely criticized. The defendant forcibly associates copyrighted tracks with transgender people, which damages copyrighted tracks. “.

The case can be traced back to 2017, according to Charming Beats, when it sent a notice of withdrawal to Apple and related company MediaLab. The company hopes to be tried by a jury and receive compensation of “up to US$150,000 but not less than US$30,000” plus expenses.

Apple did not comment.
