It was originally thought that AirPods Max would provide unique customizability through interchangeable headbands and earmuffs, repeating the concept behind Apple Watch straps. In these delays and development issues, Bloomberg predicts that Apple will abandon the concept of replaceable headbands to speed up production.
Evidence of this concept can be seen in the final “AirPods Max” design. Users can easily remove the headband from AirPods Max without disassembling the headset. The user only needs to remove the magnetic ear pads, fold the earmuffs flat, and insert the SIM card eject tool into the small hole above the speaker.
It is believed that AirPods Max will have left and right ear detection capabilities, so users can reverse the direction of the headset, as well as the touchpad on the earmuffs for control. In the final product, this seems to have been replaced by the digital crown of the Apple Watch. Some of these features (including greater customization) may appear in the second update of “AirPods Max”. There are rumors that AirPods Max will be available in two models, including a more affordable sports model. Hybrid record Jon Prosser said that AirPods Max will offer a “sports” version for US$350 and a “luxury version” for US$599. Although the $599 price of AirPods Max is not far from the final $549 price, the cheaper $350 “sports” has yet to appear. Apple may still launch this cheaper “AirPods Max” in the future.
