Korean media The Elec reported that Samsung manufactured 300 million smartphones in 2021.

2021 production and shipments

According to The Elec, Samsung manufactured 238.88 million units in-house, and co-developed Wintech and Huaqin produced 60 million units.

Based on this number of production, Samsung is estimated to have shipped 270-280 million smartphones in 2021.

Samsung’s 2022 shipping target

Samsung planned to ship 300 million smartphones in 2021, but was able to meet its goal due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection in Vietnam, semiconductor shortages, and sluggish sales of the Galaxy S21 series. It seems there wasn’t.

The sales volume of the Galaxy S21 series was sluggish compared to the successive S series, which had an annual sales record of 35 to 40 million units.

Samsung officials said they could increase shipments of the Galaxy S21 series if there were no manufacturing problems due to the effects of the new coronavirus infection in Vietnam.

Samsung plans to ship 334 million smartphones in 2022, 285 million in-house, and the rest with a collaborative maker, The Elec reports.

The company is rumored to launch 52 smartphone models in 2022.
