Largan Precision (Otate Hikari) and Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO: Genius Electronic Optical), which are expected to supply lenses for iPhone 14 series cameras by Taiwan Media DigiTimes, are not lenses for smartphones such as lenses for virtual reality (VR) headsets. Reported that it plans to expand its business and is proceeding with product development.
Largan Precision establishes subsidiary for in-vehicle camera market
Largan Precision seems to have started developing a lens module for VR headsets.
Analyst Minchi Kuo reported that Largan Precision is developing lenses for Apple’s augmented reality (AR) headsets and lenses for cameras in the iPhone 14 Pro series.
The company established a subsidiary, Largan Industrial Optics, in the fourth quarter of 2021 (October-December) for the automotive camera market.
While the material for smartphone lenses such as those for the iPhone is plastic, the lenses for in-vehicle cameras manufactured by Largan Industrial Optics are made of glass.
GSEO discusses supply of headset lens module
Lee Kuo, CEO of GSEO, said he is in talks with potential customers to supply lens modules for VR headsets.
In the future, the company plans to invest in lens module manufacturing equipment for AR / VR headsets and increase the sales ratio of the product from the current 10% to 30% in three years.
