According to the news released by Foxconn’s official recruitment app “I Want to Hire”, the iDPBG business group (responsible for the assembly of iPhone finished products) offered a “rebate” of up to 9,200 yuan to general workers. Rebates refer to the bonuses that workers can get after guaranteeing a certain number of working hours.
The recruitment announcement shows that for workers at key stations in the manufacturing department, if they have been on the job for more than 90 days and have valid attendance for 55 days, they can get a rebate of up to 8,700 yuan, and the introducer can get a reward of 500 yuan.
A worker who has worked at Foxconn in Zhengzhou for several years confirmed the situation. He said that recently, three or four thousand people come to the factory for interviews every day. However, this is not the period when the wages are the highest and the demand for recruitment is the strongest. “Now all production is pre-orders, that is, stocking. Generally, after the new machine is released in September, if it sells well, the intensity of recruitment will be greater, and the wages will be more expensive. Shenzhen Foxconn has also undertaken some of the iPhone production. Also on July 23, Foxconn Longhua and Guanlan factories also announced an increase in rebates, with the highest award being 6,480 yuan. A local recruitment agency in Shenzhen said that the current hourly wage has reached a high of 27 yuan per hour.
Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has been tracking Apple’s supply chain for a long time, once said that the iPhone 14 series may be more popular than the iPhone 13 in the mainland market, and dealers need to make more deposits to ensure a stable supply. The Taiwanese media “Business Times” quoted supply chain sources as saying that iPhone 14 shipments in the second half of the year may reach 90 million to 100 million units.
