Apple supplier Pegatron denies reports China has blocked shipments

The Chinese government has reportedly seized parts produced by the Taiwanese company Pegatron for a scrutiny following a meeting with U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. However, Pegatron denied the reports as baseless.

Trading records from the Taiwan Stock Exchange also show that Pegatron’s mainland China iPhone production base is operating normally, according to US media MacRumors.
 
The news in question came after Pegatron Vice Chairman Jason Cheng attended a lunch meeting with President Nancy Pelosi, set up by Taiwan’s Tsai Ing-wen. The meeting was also reportedly attended by Taiwanese chip maker TSMC founder Morris Chan and chairman Mark Liu.

Apple urges strict compliance with China customs regulations

According to Nihon Keizai Shimbun, local time on the 5th, Apple asked suppliers to strictly comply with China’s customs regulations for shipments from Taiwan to China. For example, it is said that the production place was requested to be described as “Taiwan, China” or “Chinese Taipei”.
