Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo posted on Twitter that the terminals of the charging case for the AirPods series will all switch to USB-C terminals in 2023.
Switch to new products in 2023? Or just the charging case?
Kuo expects AirPods Pro (2nd generation) to be released in the second half of 2022 (July-December), and states that the charging port for this model is likely to be Lightning.
After that, it seems that the terminal of the charging case for the AirPods series will be changed to USB-C in 2023.
I predict Apple will launch USB-C-capable charging cases for all AirPods models in 2023. However, the charging case of the new AirPods Pro 2 launched in 2H22 may still support Lightning.

The 2021 model of AirPods Pro now supports the MagSafe wireless charging method.
