Data Recovery from Macs with M1/M2/T2 Chips Possible – But Expensive

Apple silicon, such as the M1/M2 chips, and Macs with the T2 chip have their own security features that prevent data from being easily retrieved from storage when the Mac is damaged beyond repair.

A data recovery company called DriveSavers has announced that it has successfully recovered data from a Mac with Apple silicon for the first time in the world.

Macs with M1/M2 and T2 chips have their own security features.

As a result, even if your Mac is stolen, you cannot simply take out the storage and extract the data.

This feature is great in terms of security and allows you to store sensitive data with confidence.

On the other hand, if your Mac is damaged beyond repair, you won’t be able to easily retrieve the data from the storage.

DriveSavers Enables Data Recovery from Apple Silicon

Data recovery company DriveSavers has announced that it has successfully recovered data from Macs with Apple silicon and T2 chips.

DriveSavers says it has identified the components these Macs need for data access, allowing them to recover data by chip transplanting from a broken board to a working board.

DriveSavers claims to be the first and only company to do so, as no other company claims to be able to recover data from Macs with Apple silicon.

The cost of recovery is undecided, but it seems that it will cost several thousand dollars ($ 1,000 = about 133,000 yen) even if the chip is not transplanted.

It’s enough money to buy a new Mac, so it’s better to back up important data in a secure place.

DriveSavers also offers a service to unlock iPhones.
