Kosho Jiho has posted the production start date and codenames for the A17, M2X, and M3 for the iPhone 15 Pro series, which are manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process.
A17 will start manufacturing on TSMC’s 3nm process after April 2023
According to the Industrial and Commercial Times, the A17 is codenamed “Coll” and will be installed only in the iPhone 15 Pro series, and will be deployed in the base models of the iPhone 16 series (iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Max) a year later.
A17 production is expected to begin in the second quarter (April-June) to the third quarter (July-September) of 2023.
M2 Pro and M2 Max
The system-on-chip (SoC) based on the new architecture “M2X” for Mac, codenamed “Rhodes”, will be installed in the new MacBook Pro and Mac Studio, according to the Kosho Times.
Regarding the M2X variants, Industry and Commerce Times states that there will be M2 Pro and M2 Max, differentiated by the number of GPU cores.
Regarding the shipping date of the same SoC, it is written that the second half will be one year later, which is different from the rumor that the M2 Pro and M2 Max will be manufactured on TSMC’s 5nm process and shipped within the year.
The M3, codenamed “Palma,” will be installed in the MacBook Air, iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iMac, according to the Kosho Times.
Apple has started designing the M3, and the media expects it to be installed in these product groups from late 2023 to early 2024.
