Since the beginning of 2020, due to the new crown epidemic, Apple has replaced offline new product launches with new product videos. Therefore, the conference on September 7 was the first time that Apple held a face-to-face new mobile phone launch ceremony after 2019.

At that time, Apple will invite some media to the scene, and will also provide a live broadcast of the conference through Apple’s official website and Youtube website.

Apple’s annual autumn conference has aroused the high attention and expectation of fruit fans and the media, which has also become Apple’s iconic event. On Youtube, the launch tends to be viewed by millions around the world. This conference attracted global attention, and at the same time preheated and marketed product sales for the annual Christmas shopping season (that is, the fourth quarter), which is also Apple’s highest sales quarter of the year.

Apple’s theme for this fall’s event is “Far out,” which means “distant, unconventional, and novel.” This could be a reference to some of the new features Apple will introduce, including nighttime starry sky photography.

At last year’s fall event, Apple unveiled new phones and the Apple Watch, followed by new tablets and Apple computers.

Based on various reports, the following are the new products that Apple is likely to launch at this conference:

iPhone 14: Four new models

Apple is expected to release four new phones, which will be the iPhone 14 series if the traditional naming convention continues.

It is reported that Apple will cancel the iPhone mini series with a 4.7-inch screen this year. Apple’s new phone will offer two screens, a 6.1-inch and a 6.7-inch, each with two models, a standard version and a pricier Pro version.

According to Tianfeng Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, other analysts and media reports, the Pro version of the phone will provide a richer feature upgrade this time around.

Since 2017, Apple phones have left a special space (commonly known as “bangs”) at the top of the screen to install the facial recognition system FaceID (including multiple sensors and cameras). It is reported that in this year’s Pro version of the mobile phone, Apple will optimize the design and reduce the notch space, this area will continue to be displayed as black, and the screen space will be expanded.

The Pro version of the new phone will be powered by an upgraded A16 processor and camera. The bump volume of the camera combination will be larger.

In addition, like some Android phones, Apple’s new machine will provide a permanent screen display function, mainly to display the latest notifications. This summer, Apple’s beta software showed that Apple is preparing to display information such as weather, battery level and other information on the screen for long periods of time.

The pricing of Apple’s new phones is currently intriguing as the world is experiencing inflation and some regions face macroeconomic uncertainty. Consumer electronics, including Sony’s PS5 game console, have seen price cuts before.

The cheapest of the phones launched last year was the small-screen iPhone 13 Nimi, priced at $699, which will be canceled. That way, Apple’s cheapest phone on sale will become the $829 iPhone 13 (if the pricing doesn’t change). In addition, some Wall Street analysts expect Apple to raise the price of the Pro version of the phone.

According to past practice, after the release of new mobile phones, Apple will reduce the price of old mobile phones to bring opportunities to those price-sensitive consumers.

Apple Watch

Next week, Apple is expected to unveil the eighth-generation upgrade to the Apple Watch. Last year, the Apple Watch 7 was equipped with a larger screen, but the overall look and feel of the product has not changed substantially, and it remains the same as it was in 2014.

The Apple Watch will have some improvements this year. According to authoritative media reports, Apple is considering integrating a body temperature sensor in the Apple Watch, which will help “couples create people” or sleep monitoring. Other new features introduced include advanced sleep pattern analysis and (during sleep) apnea analysis.

In Apple Watch 8, the biggest change is that there will be a Pro version with a larger screen and a more durable case.

Historically, Apple has used expensive metals such as gold, ceramic or titanium in its watches. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the Pro version will be the first time Apple has launched a high-end Apple Watch, and will add some features compared to the regular version.

Plus, there’s an entry-level version of the Apple Watch, the “Apple Watch SE,” priced at $329, and this year, Apple is likely to offer a modest upgrade to that entry-level version.

iOS 16

For those who don’t buy Apple’s new products, they can still get the annual iOS operating system upgrade, which will be upgraded to iOS 16 this year. The system was first announced in June, and Apple has been testing it ever since.

The new system will add a slew of new features, some of which users will soon discover. The biggest change is that users can personalize the lock screen with “Widgets”, such as displaying weather, schedule and other information. Users will also be able to set the font for the lock screen for the first time.

In iOS 16, users can also recall or edit chat messages that iMeesage has sent, but only within a few minutes of sending them.

A short-term consumer loan service from Apple will also be available in iOS, officially called Pay Later with Apple. In the future, users who use Apple Pay to buy goods online can enjoy four installments without interest.

iOS 16 also added a cool feature. If the user has both an iPhone and an Apple computer, the phone can be used as a high-definition camera for the computer.

Will there be tablets and computers?

Next week, Apple is unlikely to release a brand new tablet and PC because the software isn’t ready yet.

Earlier this month, Apple sources told the technology media that this year, the tablet operating system iPadOS will be launched later than iOS 16. However, Apple did not provide more information, and the company has always been secretive about new products.

In addition, Apple has always liked to release hardware and supporting software systems at the same time, so the above statement indicates that the release time of the new tablet will be later than the new phone.

Apple’s tablet and mobile operating systems are very similar, but this year iPadOS will introduce a new feature “Stage Manager” that allows users to multitask more efficiently, but this feature has been criticized by trial users.

Apple’s new tablet could be upgraded to a newer processor (closer to Apple’s CPU), use a smoother display, and work better with other accessories.

Earlier this year, Apple gave a very rare hint that it might launch a new version of its “Mac Pro” high-performance computer. The current version of the Mac Pro uses an Intel processor and is priced at $5,000.

According to the plan, Apple will replace Intel chips with self-developed M-series processors in all computers. It should be pointed out that compared with popular products such as iPhones and watches, a high-priced niche product like the Mac Pro seems out of place.

Like last year, Apple is likely to unveil the new computer at a separate event later this year.
