Bloomberg: Apple’s 2022 iPad Pro/MacBook Pro may be released via press release

Apple may decide to release the rest of its 2022 lineup, including the updated iPad Pro, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models, through a press release on its website rather than a digital event, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple is currently “probably releasing its remaining 2022 products through press releases, website updates and briefings with select members of the media” rather than through digital events. Apple is rumored to be planning a second fall event in October with a focus on Macs and iPads, but that may no longer be the case.

For the rest of 2022, Apple will launch three products: the iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch with M2 chips, the updated Mac mini with M2 and the yet-to-be-released “M2 Pro” chip, and the updated MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16 inches.

In early June this year, Apple announced the M2 chip version of the redesigned MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro at WWDC22. Aside from the new chips, the Mac and iPad updates will be relatively incremental upgrades, with no major design changes to the products rumored. Apple has released products through press releases in the past, such as the iPhone SE 2, AirPods Max, and the original AirPods Pro.
