Apple launches 13-inch MacBook Pro display backlight service plan

In addition to updating the 2019 MacBook Pro product line, Apple today launched a screen backlight service plan for the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

According to Apple, the company has determined that a small number of 13-inch MacBook Pro displays may have one or more of the following conditions: the screen stage light effect:

– the display backlight continuously or intermittently displays a vertical bright area along the bottom of the entire screen;

– The display backlight completely stops working.

Apple said the affected equipment was sold between October 2016 and February 2018. Apple and Apple Authorized Service Providers will overhaul the affected MacBook Pro devices for free.

Users can open the MacBook Pro and check if the device meets the criteria by selecting Apple Logo > “About This Mac” in the upper left corner of the screen. Eligible models are:

– MacBook Pro (13 inches, 2016, four Thunder 3 ports);

– MacBook Pro (13 inches, 2016, two Thunder 3 ports).

If you find that your device is eligible, you can make an appointment to go to the nearest Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for troubleshooting. If the user has previously paid for repairs due to this issue, they can contact Apple for a refund. The program provides coverage for eligible MacBook Pro models for a period of four years from the date of the first retail sale of the device.
