13-inch MacBook Pro Flexgate

Apple has extended the 13-inch MacBook Pro Display Backlight Repair Program for 13-inch MacBook Pro display backlight issues to five years after purchase.

Extend the free repair period to 5 years after purchase

Some 13-inch MacBook Pros sold from 2016 to 2018 have been confirmed to have a defect called “Flexgate” in which the backlight at the bottom of the display partially lights up like a stage light.

Apple launched a free repair program in May 2019, initially targeting products within three years of purchase, but now “five years from the first retail sale date or the start date of the program. Is extended to 3 years (whichever is longer).
