Disable live photos

Activate, create and find live photos on the iPhone 6sLive photos are a great feature of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7, because they not only capture the photo, but also capture the moment before and after. Since a total of 3 seconds of additional video material has to be added to the actual photo, the moving pictures take up as much storage space as a normal photo on the iPhone. If you do not want to, you can easily disable the default enabled feature. How to do that, we show you in the following instructions.

Disable Live Photos in Camera App

Camera app → yellow circle icon [tap]

If you open the Camera app, you'll see a yellow circle icon in the middle of the top of the screen, indicating that the Live Photos feature is turned on. If you touch this icon, it will turn gray and below it will appear the message "Live Off". The live-photo feature is now disabled and you can take normal photos. You can also easily reactivate the function by tapping the circle icon again.

Live at Live Photos

Now you can do normal and, above all, less memory-intensive photos again. Everything worth knowing about Live Photos, we show you in our article Activate, create & find Live Photos on the iPhone.

If you want to make a normal still image from an already created live photo, then look at our article iPhone 6s: Convert live photos into normal photos.
