What will happen to the WWDC? Events are canceled one after another due to the influence of coronavirus

Apple hosts the World Developers Conference (WWDC) for developers every June.

But will it be held this year?

Impact of new coronavirus on WWDC

While some have stated that the toxicity of the new coronavirus is comparable or slightly weaker than that of the influenza, coronavirus infection rates and mortality rates are higher and spread faster than influenza.

Due to the spread of the coronavirus, events at Mobile World Congress (MWC), one of the world’s largest mobile phone exhibitions, have been canceled.

WWDC is no exception.

International event organizers consider the following issues that arise when they are held or canceled:

  1. Hold an event. However, it can infect millions and kill 2% of people
  2. Do not hold events. No deaths but significant impact on PR activities

At least at Apple events, overwhelmingly more people will watch the event live stream than those who actually attend the event. Despite the challenges, it will not have a significant impact on PR activities.

It is expected that it will take up to several weeks for Apple to decide what to do with the event.
