Gmail’s Google Chat enables one-on-one voice / video calls

gmail call

You can now make voice / video calls with Gmail’s iOS and Android apps. Currently only available on a one-to-one basis.

You can also see missed calls

To make a direct call to the other party, select the phone or video icon in the upper right corner of the one-on-one chat.

To answer a chat or call, select the phone or video tip in a one-on-one chat. During a call, the other party’s banner and call duration are displayed, and the “Meet” icon is displayed in the chat list.

If you cannot answer the call, you will see a red phone or video icon in your conversation and chat roster.

Useful features for hybrid workers

With some teams returning to the office and others dispersed, Gmail’s voice / video calls are expected to help hybrid workers connect with colleagues.

This feature will help you collaborate and work, as you can seamlessly switch chats to video and voice calls as needed.
