1) Guaranteed Legendary Drop
There is a guaranteed legendary item drop from the first Orange Elite you kill everyday. I have seem people telling me this is not working properly but I found out they were not taking something into consideration. You need to get dibs on the Orange Elite. What I mean is that it only counts as your first Orange Elite if you are the first one to hit it. After I realised that, I noticed that I have ALWAYS dropped a legendary item from my first Orange Elite of the day.
If you are in a party and a party member finds an Orange Elite and hits it before anyone else outside the party, it also counts as marking that legendary as your first.
2) Orange Elites are a full group of mobs
Unlike the other elites which are but a single mob (except blue ones which are triplets), Orange Elites are a full group of mobs.
They will spawn randomly at any place where a group of mobs usually spawns. So, everytime you fully kill a group of mobs there is a chance that group will respawn as an Orange Elite.
3) Finding a good spot
Because of that, it makes sense to farm in spots crowded with mob groups. Because the more groups you kill, the more group respawns you get and the more often you roll the dice to get one of those respawns to be an Orange Elite.
4) High Kill Rate
Not only a good spot is necessary, but also a high kill rate. The faster you kill the mobs, the sooner they will active their timer to respawn. So, if you dont have a high kill rate playing solo, invite others to your party. Even strangers. They would very much prefer farming together with you than competing with you for the same farming spot.
5) Kill everything
If a single mob from a group is not killed, that group is still alive and wont respawn. Without respawning there is no chance to have an Orange Elite in its place.
6) Divide the party in two
When I am playing with friends, guild members or Warband members, there is usually one or two in the party who are a beast at farming. So we put those at the front and they go smashing without worrying about killing all the mobs. The rest follows from behind making sure the leftover mobs are killed. That allows for a faster farming because the person in the front can move faster from one group to the next.
7) Don’t farm together. An unusual tip.
I prefer this one better than farming together. The benefits are obvious. You cover more areas this way and when farming all together you are overkilling the mobs and wasting farming potential. You can do it in different areas of the same map or in different maps. Once someone finds an Orange Elite, just warn the others and they all teleport to the location.
From my experience, some people will resist farming this way because it is harder to build Massacre or because they just prefer to play together instead of farming alone. But farming this way has proven the best way to find more Orange Elites.
