Despite it’s name, the M1 Mac Mini has made a massive impact on my video/streaming/podcasting workflow. This is the least expensive computer I’ve ever owned, but it’s also the most powerful.
With this video I wanted to throw everything I have at the Mini: I simultaneously edited/exported 4K footage in Final Cut Pro, recorded in Ecamm Live, ran a Zoom meeting (which was also recording), used QuickTime for screen recording, worked in Photoshop, edited audio in Audition, and had 14 tabs open in Chrome and Safari.
The only hiccup was Photoshop, which needed to be restarted and then everything ran fine. Adobe software is currently running through Rosetta, so this wasn’t a huge surprise.
If you have the money to upgrade RAM/storage, I don’t think you’ll regret it, but this video proves that the base model is insanely great.
